Three positions available at ART DUBAI 

Art Dubai, with his sister design fairs, is looking for a number of new staff to join its growing and dynamic team based in Dubai, UAE.

In general, Art Dubai and its associated fairs seek employees with strong English language skills and preferably also Arabic as a first or second language. 

UAE Nationals and those resident in the UAE are encouraged to apply. 

Written and spoken French / Russian / Farsi / Hindi / Urdu are also desirable. 

The following roles are all for an immediate start, and candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

 
COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

A major opportunity for a communications and marketing professional, this role comprises strategic thinking across several major art and design events.

The ideal candidate must be proactive and ready to lead and take on new challenges.

Entrepreneurial in spirit, with a strong track record in activating a wide breadth of marketing opportunities at a regional and international level, s/he must be able to both manage a department and deal with logistics, and have the flair to pitch stories.

The candidate would be expected to communicate directly, and build relationships, with key international press across the fields of art and design, and manage several agencies as well as in-house staff.

Project management and strong organisational skills are a given, as is attention to detail.

The role also requires creative thinking, and an awareness of the particular worlds of art and design, as well as the context of the Gulf and wider region.

The position includes overseeing and managing three different brands and their associated collateral and publications, working with external creative directors plus in-house designers.

The candidate would have outstanding English writing and editing skills, and Arabic as a first or second language is preferred.

The candidate would be expected to be able to multitask; have excellent diplomatic skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure; and be willing to work long/irregular hours during certain points in the year.

A senior management role, the position reports directly to the Fair Directors and CEO. 

 

GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Working within the Communications team, across three fairs, and with external Creative Directors, this role would suit a designer with some experience, and plenty of ambition and flair, looking to take their career to the next level. The position involves day-to-day designing of a broad range of online and print collateral, from websites and enewsletters, to print and online advertisements, to catalogues, books and other print publications.

Attention to detail is a must, as is an ability to think creatively while being highly organised and deadline-oriented. The ideal candidate would be bilingual (English and Arabic), and a strong and enthusiastic team-player.

The candidate would be expected to be able to multitask; have the ability to remain calm under pressure; and be willing to work long/irregular hours at certain points in the year. 

The position is for an immediate start.

The position reports to the Communications Director and Fair Managers. 

 

EXHIBITIONS COORDINATOR, ART DUBAI

Art Dubai is looking for an Exhibitions Coordinator to join its growing and dynamic team, located in Dubai, UAE.

The role involves working with the Senior Manager, Exhibitions to manage the gallery halls at the annual fair, plus additional exhibitions projects, including The Abraaj Group Art Prize, the most established award for artists from the Middle East and South Asia, and one of the most prestigious of arts prizes, worldwide.

Art Dubai typically hosts around 85 galleries each year, across three programmes – Contemporary, Modern and Marker.

Year-round, the Exhibitions Coordinator would identify and liaise with dynamic, suitable galleries, curators and artists; prepare all research and exhibition materials, including images, texts, catalogue entries; update websites, contracts and manuals; work with contractors to prepare for all aspects of exhibitions held each March at Art Dubai. 

Accuracy, and strong research and administrative skills, are absolute requirements, as is experience of working within a gallery, fair, or museum environment.

The role spans both the commercial and the non-commercial, and involves liaison with a wide diversity of contacts and colleagues, from gallery directors and artists, to shipping agents and contractors, to critics and educators.

The ideal candidate will have a strong and active interest in the artworld, particularly the arts scenes of the Middle East and South Asia.

Dynamic, outgoing, diplomatic and enthusiastic, s/he will be a team player and be able to multitask; must have the ability to remain calm under pressure; and be willing to work long/irregular hours during certain points in the year.
